Another thing I found interesting is that there were not many characters in this book. Crash also talks to Scooter about things in his life. In the climactic scene of the novel, John and Penn compete in a race-off for the remaining spot on the school's Penn Relays team. This causes Mike to take revenge on Penn, escalating both the frequency and intensity of his bullying efforts. I used to love reading a lot and was reading countless novels, but since I have slowed down and completely stopped almost. Crash is a book about a boy who seemingly has it all.
In the beginning, Crash is a bully; he bullies his neighbor, Penn Webb, and gets angry at Jane Forbes, who he has a crush on. Through the eyes of Crash, readers get a rare glimpse into the life of a bully in this unforgettable and beloved story about stereotypes and the surprises life can bring. Crash puts his uncle on the hospital because he wanted to win. This book was about 160 pages which is perfect length for me. This book can be a real page turner if you into football, kids day today lives or just want a good book to read so go out and read Crash and then recommend it to a friend. Its a very common issue.
I think that unkind people should read this because it might change their personality and feelings about other people. In the end Crash's grandfather Scooter got better and having Scooter back makes Crash very reflective and Crash also become a better person. Things that were once the most important in his life, become trivial. The years pass and John avoids Penn, who remains friendly to him. Crash is devastated; he has lost the person he loves most. Crash is a character who you root for throughout the entire story to change and get his act together. I really like this book even though at first i thought this is just a book about bullying people that you hate, but toward the end i found out that this book is teaching you that its not to late to change it into a better person. This book is about John coogan who plays on his schools football and track team and is one of the bullys at his school Springfield middle school he likes to pick on this one kid named Penn Webb because he is a nerd and a cheerleader to.
Jerry Spinelli began writing when he was 16 — not much older than the hero of his book Maniac Magee. I really can relate to Crash Coogan in a lot of ways. But when John comes home he is delighted to find his grandfather, Scooter, cooking in the kitchen. Crash's parents are not around a lot because they are busy working. Early on, Penn Webb is introduced as a foil for Crash. In the meantime, Penn has formulated his own plan to race in the Penn Relays.
